Thanksgiving Day
Plan Ahead for Thanksgiving Payroll Deadlines
Thursday, November 27, marks a federal banking holiday. Since the Federal Reserve halts ACH transactions on these days, direct deposit payments may be delayed. To ensure your employees are paid on time, it’s important to adjust your payroll schedule if your regular payday is on or just after the holiday.
If your usual payday falls on Thursday, November 27, you should process payroll a day early and change the check date to Wednesday, November 26. For timely payment, make sure you submit payroll by Monday, November 24.
For those paying employees on Friday, November 28, the check date doesn’t need to change – but the payroll must be submitted one business day earlier to avoid any delays.
Note: This guidance is based on a standard 2-day processing window. If your account is set up with a 4-day processing window, payrolls must be submitted earlier — by Thursday, November 20.
*Beyond’s banking cut-off is 11:30 PM ET. Payrolls submitted after this time are processed the next business day. If your submission falls on a holiday but is completed before 11:30 PM ET, turnaround time will not be affected.
