
Setting Up Direct Deposit with Beyond

Direct deposit is a simple way to pay your employees – funds go straight into their bank accounts each payday, saving time for both you and your team. If needed, you can still issue paper checks, or even combine methods by paying some employees via direct deposit and others by check in the same payroll run.
Providing Employee Information
There’s no need to handle the setup yourself – Beyond can take care of it for you. When you sign up, you’ll receive an email from us requesting the following details for each employee you’ve had on payroll this year:
- Full legal name
- SSN or EIN (for all employees and contractors)
- ITIN (for contractors only)
- Date of birth
- Home address
- Worksite location (if different from company headquarters)
- Hire date
- Pay rate or salary
- Department
- Federal and state tax withholding preferences for all W-2 employees

Once we receive this information, we’ll create profiles for your staff so you’re ready to start running payroll.
Already Paid Employees This Year?
If wages have already been issued in the current year, we’ll also need your prior payroll history to ensure accurate tax withholding and filings. Follow the instructions in the email we sent to submit that data.
Deductions
If the employee itemizes deductions, record them here. If they’re taking the standard deduction, leave the field blank.
Verifying Your Bank Account
As part of the setup, we’ll make a small credit and two small offsetting debits to the bank account you provided. Once you see these transactions in your account, go to My Company > Company Bank Account in Beyond and enter the amounts to complete verification.
Risk Assessment and Direct Deposit Approval
After your account is verified, our ACH team will conduct a risk review to determine your direct deposit approval status. Approval types include:
- 2-Day Turnaround: Process payroll by Wednesday at 11:30 PM EST for deposits on Friday morning.
- 4-Day Turnaround: Process payroll by Monday at 11:30 PM EST for deposits on Friday morning.
- Wire Only: Required for companies with very large payroll totals; funds must be wired.
- Reverse Wire Only: Beyond initiates a drawdown request from your account to fund payroll and taxes.

Your turnaround time will be confirmed via email. In some cases, approvals can be reevaluated after six months upon request.

Note: Pay runs can be scheduled in advance.
Adding Direct Deposit for Employees
Once approved, you can enter employees’ direct deposit details in Beyond. If your approval type doesn’t meet your needs, submit a request to explore other options.
Processing Times & Responsibilities
- Setup generally takes 1–2 business days.
- Not all clients are approved for direct deposit.
- Any errors in banking details resulting in misapplied deposits or NSF fees are the employer’s responsibility.
