Memorial Day
Plan Payroll Ahead for Memorial Day: Avoid Holiday Delays
Monday, May 25, 2026, is Memorial Day – a federal banking holiday. Because the Federal Reserve doesn’t process ACH transfers on federal holidays, direct deposit payments can be delayed if payroll isn’t submitted early. If your regular payday falls on or after this holiday, you’ll need to adjust your payroll schedule to ensure employees are paid on time.
If your payday is set for Monday, May 25, you’ll need to move the check date to Friday, May 22, and submit payroll no later than Wednesday, May 20.
For those with a Tuesday, May 26 payday, no check date change is needed – but you must still submit payroll one business day in advance to stay on schedule.
Note: These deadlines are based on a 2-day processing window. If your company uses a 4-day turnaround, payroll must be submitted by Monday, May 18. See full submission schedule below.
*Beyond’s banking cut-off time is 11:30 PM ET. Submissions received after this time will be considered processed the next business day. You may still submit payroll on a holiday if it’s before 11:30 PM ET — processing time won’t be affected.
**Although May 25 is a banking holiday, submissions made before 11:30 PM ET will still meet the deadline.
