How to view my deferred social security taxes - CARES Act

The final payment deadline for the remaining deferred 2020 Social Security Tax was Saturday, December 31, 2022.

There’s no need to go through all your records. We have simplified the process for you to see what you have already paid and what you may still owe, helping you to make timely payments to the IRS.

What is the CARES Act?

Under the CARES Act, employers had the option to defer paying the employer portion of social security payroll tax for the period from March 27, 2020, through December 31, 2020. This was a temporary delay, not a waiver of the tax. A minimum of 50% of the deferred tax was required to be paid by December 31, 2021, and the rest was due by December 31, 2022. The program did not apply to taxes on wages paid on or after January 1, 2021.

Deadline for Deferred Tax Payments

Employers were responsible for paying their deferred taxes directly to the IRS by these deadlines:

  • 50% by December 31, 2021
  • Remainder by December 31, 2022

Please note: Because these taxes were never deducted, Beyond was unable to pay any deferred taxes on your behalf.

How to See the Deferred Amount

To view the amount you deferred, click on COVID-19 in the side menu. At the bottom of the page, you will see the total listed under “Amount Deferred.” You must pay this amount directly to the IRS.

How to Print a Report

The report shows the deferred amount, broken down by approval date, who approved it, the reduction amount, check date, and run ID. You can print this report or save it as a PDF.

Keep in mind that when COVID-19 legislation changes or is extended, you should always refer to IRS guidance for the most current information.
