How to Print Checks

While direct deposit* is typically the preferred method for issuing pay, some employees may choose to be paid by paper check. If an employee’s banking details are not entered in their profile***, you’ll see “Paper check” displayed next to their name when running payroll. To issue paper checks, you’ll need compatible check stock.

* You must be approved to issue pay by direct deposit.
** Beyond does not print or mail paper checks for you.
*** Bank account details can only be entered by the employee, or by a payroll approver.

IMPORTANT: Verify Printer Settings Before Printing Checks

To ensure paycheck details line up correctly with your check stock, confirm that printer settings are not scaling the image. Look for one of the following options in your printer menu:

  • Actual Size
  • No Scaling
  • Scaling 100%

Printing All Checks and Stubs

Because direct deposit is faster, paper check printing usually excludes stubs for direct deposit employees. However, you can still print those stubs from your Beyond dashboard if needed.

  1. Click Checks.
  2. Select Download all Checks/Stubs.
    • This will include $0 pay stubs as well as stubs for employees paid via direct deposit.

Printing Checks from the Payroll Register Report

You can also print individual checks directly from the Payroll Register report:

  1. Go to Reports → Payroll Register.
  2. Click on any employee’s pay record.
  3. Download and print their check.

Reprinting Checks from Previous Runs

There are two ways to reprint checks from prior payroll runs:

From the Dashboard:

  1. In your Dashboard, click View All.
  2. Scroll through the list and select the run to reprint checks.
