How to Cancel and Remove a Pay Run

If you’ve already processed payroll and realize there was a mistake, you may be able to remove and delete that pay run — but only if bank drafts have not yet occurred.
Important: Beyond typically drafts payroll taxes and direct deposit funds the day before the check date. Once the check date is reached, funds are drafted on the next business day.
If you do not see the Delete button for a pay run, you’ll need to contact us at 705-302-1442.
Reasons You May Need to Remove a Pay Run
- An employee was paid too much or too little.
- An employee was included in the payroll but should not have been paid.
- Incorrect hours or earning types were entered (e.g., vacation, sick, bonus).
- Incorrect taxes were withheld due to an employee setup issue.
How to Remove a Pay Run
- From the Dashboard, scroll down to Recent Runs.
- Click Expand (or View All).
- Locate the pay run you want to remove and click the Delete button.
Note: Removing a pay run deletes all associated data. You’ll need to rerun payroll for that check date, including all employees who should be paid.
If the Delete Button Isn’t Available
If you don’t see a Delete option, it means payroll taxes and direct deposit drafts have already been initiated. In this case, contact us at 705-302-1442 for assistance.
If Payroll Drafts or Tax Payments Have Already Occurred
- If payroll funds have already been drafted and employees have received payment, Beyond cannot reverse the transaction. The employer must collect the funds directly from the employee.
- If taxes have already been paid to federal or state agencies, Beyond cannot issue a refund until you process another payroll where the tax liability equals or exceeds the overpaid amount.
- If no additional payrolls will occur in the quarter, or if payrolls are insufficient to cover the overpayment, the IRS or state agency will issue the refund.
