FAQ: Sales Tax

Does Beyond collect sales tax?

Sales tax laws vary by state, and not all states require software companies, including Beyond, to collect sales tax. If the legal address for your account is in a state, county, or city where our sales are subject to taxation, your invoice may be adjusted accordingly. Beyond is dedicated to following all relevant sales tax regulations.

How much is sales tax?

Sales tax rates and the decision on which goods and services are taxed within a jurisdiction are determined by state and local governments. The typical sales tax rate is between 4% and 7%, but it can be higher or lower depending on the location.

Why is sales tax collected in some cases?

Each state has its own criteria for when sales tax must be collected. Depending on your account’s legal address, Beyond may be obligated to add sales tax to your subscription fee.

If my business is tax-exempt, will Beyond still collect sales tax?

Certain businesses may be eligible for sales tax exemption. These businesses must provide valid documentation, as required by law, to prevent the collection of sales taxes. The validation process for this documentation can take up to 10 business days. If your documentation is validated and approved at least two business days before the next billing date, sales tax will not be applied to that invoice or any future invoices, provided that Beyond retains valid proof of your exemption in accordance with applicable law.

Can Beyond help my business with sales tax?

Beyond is designed to simplify the process of filing and paying your payroll taxes using wage calculations and deductions from your payroll. If your business charges sales tax for its goods or services, these transactions occur outside of the payroll process and cannot be calculated or tracked within Beyond.
