Michigan TPA + POA Requirements

Why this matters
Beyond communicates and works directly with government agencies on your behalf – handling new hire reporting to state labor departments, calculating applicable tax rates, submitting tax and insurance payments, and filing necessary reports. To manage this process for you, we must be authorized to represent your business with the tax offices in every state where you have obligations.

For instance, if your company operates in both Michigan and Wisconsin, you’ll need to submit a signed power of attorney form for each state. Every tax agency follows its own approval procedure, which may involve different steps from you. Below, we’ve outlined the requirements for each Michigan agency. Depending on the agency, you may need to share your tax account details or return a completed power of attorney (POA) form.

Michigan Department of Treasury

Third-Party Agent (TPA) Access
To file and pay Michigan withholding taxes on your behalf, we require third-party access to your state tax account. When submitting your request for TPA access, please include:

  • Your legal business name and FEIN (as registered in Michigan)
  • Filing frequency (Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually)
  • Ownership type (as indicated at registration)
  • Taxes your business is registered for (withholding, sales/use tax, etc.)

  2. Fill out:
    • Part 1: Taxpayer Information

Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency
